Dilshad Hussain (Padma Shri)
About Dilshad Hussain (Padma Shri)
Dilshad Hussain has practised nakkashi engraving on brass since childhood, working in the demanding Marodi style: the design is drawn on paper, then traced onto the vessel with a fine engraving tool and a wooden block. He holds the National Award and the Shilp Guru Award, and in 2023 became the first brass craftsman in India to receive the Padma Shri. An urn of his was chosen as India's gift to the German Chancellor at the 2022 G7 Summit.
